Senior Trump administration officials have announced that the President is to announce that the United States of America officially recognised Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel.
There have also been reports that after the announcement Trump may move the United States embassy in Israel (currently situated in Tel Aviv) to Jerusalem.
This announcement has caused mass outrage in the middle east with some Arab leaders stating that this is a clear provocation towards Muslims.
While Israel has always seen Jerusalem as its capital city, the Palestinians have always stated that Jerusalem would be their capital of a future Palestinian state.
Hamas has responded to this announcement by declaring a ‘day of rage’.
The Israeli Defence Force is now on high alert as people from across the west bank plan to gather for a demonstration on Thursday outside al-Manara Square in Ramallah.
Protests are also expected to take place today in Jenin, the IDF and the military are preparing for what many are expecting to see as a period of instability and unrest in Israel and Palestine.
The Council of The League of Arab States has declared that this announcement by President Trump is an “open aggression” against “the rights of the Palestinian people and all Muslims and Christians.
It is expected this announcement from the President will fuel further tensions in an already unstable Middle East and will only cause further unrest and conflict between the already warring Israelis and Palestinians.
