WAS POOR LITTLE POPPI WORTHINGTON SEXUALLY ABUSED AND MURDERED BY HER FATHER?
Thirteen-month-old Poppi Worthington collapsed at home in Barrow, Cumbria, on 12th December 2012. The otherwise healthy toddler was pronounced dead at the hospital just one hour later.
This case is not all that it appears though, there are signs that Poppi was sexually abused and raped, thus resulting in her death.
Several doctors have come to the conclusion that Poppi was raped and sexually abused and that it was most likely her father Paul Worthington (49) who carried out this horrific abuse on his daughter.
The pictures in the gallery below were taken by Cumbria Police shortly after Poppi died and released today by the coroner’s court investigating the babies death.
Poppi was rushed to Furness General Hospital on 12th December 2012 suffering from what one doctor describes as ‘significant bleeding, unlike anything I’ve seen in my career before’.
A post-mortem examination on young Poppi’s body revealed significant damage to the back of her throat and damage to her anus and rectum area. Further investigation also found reddened inner thighs and bruising and tears in her tiny body.
One of the many reasons court officials believes Paul Worthington may have sexually abused his daughter is because DNA evidence was found on Paul’s penis. Paul told authorities that this was due to him holding his daughter and then going to the toilet. Paul denies any claims that he hurt or sexually abused his daughter.
What is rather telling is the fact that Paul chose to avoid answering 252 questions at his daughter’s inquest, one of those questions being ‘did you sexually abuse your daughter’. Paul refused to answer these questions using his legal right not to potentially incriminate himself. Due to this being a coroner’s court and not a criminal proceeding, Paul was able to avoid answering many questions.
Paul Worthington has now been in hiding since 2016 when a family court judge, Mr Justice Peter Jackson, ruled that Mr Worthington has ‘likely’ sexually assaulted his daughter before she collapsed.
Lord Justice Peter Jackson stated that Poppi’s ‘significant bleeding’ can only be explained as the result of penetrative trauma.
The judge also ruled that Cumbria Police had failed to conduct a ‘real and thorough’ investigation into the toddler’s death. The Police Watchdog has also criticised the handling of the case by The Cumbria Police Force.
The heartbreaking 999 call was played at the inquest where Poppi’s Mum can be heard saying ‘come on baby, come on Poppi … keep going’ while Paul performs CPR on his daughter.
It is clear that this case has many unanswered questions, there is little doubt in the courts and medical professionals eyes that Paul Worthington has avoided answering some very damning questions, evidence would also suggest that he has had more involvement with his daughter’s death than he is letting on.
While Paul was questioned by Police no criminal actions to date have been taken.
Free and Fearless strongly believe that if the coroner’s court and family courts believe there is strong evidence Paul sexually abused his daughter then a criminal case should be re-opened and Mr Worthington should be re-arrested and questioned.
We need answers and justice for poor little Poppi.
