22 INJURED IN SUBWAY BOMB AS BRITAIN FACES IT’S 5TH TERROR ATTACK THIS YEAR
London is again facing yet another day of terror. Britain is no stranger to terror attacks, an increase in these atrocious attacks means this is the 5th attack on British soil this year.
This attack took place on a train in Southwest London. A bomb was concealed in a plastic ‘builders bucket’ which was placed inside a ‘Lidl’ grocery shopping bag.
The bomb was detonated at around 8.20 a.m. London time, while the train was at Parsons Green Station. Luckily, no one died, however, 22 people were injured in the attack.
It is unclear as of yet whether or not the bomb was detonated early or prematurely went off. It would also appear that the device did not cause the full amount of damage it was intended to do.
The Associated Press commented on the attack, saying:
Six hours later, the Metropolitan Police force said there had been no arrests, but hundreds of detectives, aided by intelligence agents, were looking at surveillance camera footage in the subway, carrying out forensic work and speaking to witnesses.”The Associated Press
The perpetrator of the act is still at large and has not been caught by UK police, thus causing further fear and panic among the British public.
Many people are questioning why the police have not been able to capture the culprit yet, especially considering London is one of the most surveilled cities in the world, there is thought to be one CCTV camera for every 14 people, putting official figures at close to 422,000 CCTV cameras in London alone.
Shortly after the attack Islamic State reportedly claimed responsibility. The Prime Minister Theresa May responded by increasing the terror threat in Britain to CRITICAL, increasing the amount of armed police in and around London by 1000 and requesting military assistance.
Mrs May will surely come under fire after this latest attack, with her refusal to increase the pay of public and emergency service workers, it will be increasingly difficult for her to justify this decision after the amazing response from our emergency services during yet another attack in London.
